Tell us something about yourself
My name is Diya Umer. I have done my schooling from Presentation Convent High School and then Masters in Economics. I am the first airbrush artist of Kashmir valley. My studio is the first premium bridal studio in town. My forte is to create unique yet glam brides. I have been giving makeup tutorials for 3 years in Srinagar.
How did you join this field
I wanted to launch something new and trending in Kashmir. So I thought of “Airbrush makeup”. Hence, learnt the art and introduced Airbrush in the valley.
Have you done any course related to makeup
Yes, 3 different makeup courses and 1 hair styling course.

- ARABIC eye makeup from DMA
What services do you provide with minimum price
The minimum price is Rs 8000 that includes makeup, hair, false lashes, hair accessories, hair jewels, dupatta draping, and jewellery setting.
What products do you usually use
The products that I use are all high end such as Laura mercier, Farsali, Lancome, j’hill, Anastasia, many more.
Do you offer trial makeup services
No trial makeup
Do you have a team and how do you work
I have a studio at Barzulla where we have a team of 4-5 members. I do not visit on-site for bridal sessions. I myself am only available for the in-studio makeup session and I have 2 makeup pros for on-site services.
What if there is an emergency and you can’t make it to the wedding?
In case of an emergency, we always have an alternate artist. Also, since we have a proper team, it’s not an issue.
What do you like doing the most – hair styling, dupatta wrap, eye makeup, etc.

What’s one thing that you are very particular about regarding your job
Sanitization. We keep our brushes and makeup sanitized. No double dipping.
The best compliment you have ever received regarding your work.
When one of my bride’s mom cried and kissed my hands and said, “khudai kernai aabad, myein koor karthan heroine hish”.
